According to Wikipedia,
Mauve is a pale purple color named after the mallow flower (French: Mauve). The first use of the word Mauve as a color was in 1796–98 according to the Oxford English Dictionary, but its use seems to have been rare before 1859. Another name for the color is mallow, with the first recorded use of mallow as a color name in English in 1611.
Mauve contains more grey and more blue than a pale tint of magenta. Many pale wildflowers called "blue" are actually Mauve. Mauve is also sometimes described as pale violet.
It’s tough to find information online specifically about “Mauve” because the search wants to default to “purple”! The online dictionary defines Mauve as
a “pale” purple. And pale means, light in color or having little color. So we could take all the attributes of purple and say that Mauve is a pale version of that.
One site explains Purple's meaning as
Purple combines the stability of the blue color and the energy of the red. Through the ages, purple has always been associated with royalty, nobility, and prestige. The color purple can symbolize mystery, magic, power, and luxury. Purple color meaning is often used to portray rich powerful kings, leaders, magicians and even sorcerers.
So I’m going with Mauve as being everything purple but in a more subdued way. Let me explain. Purple has to do with royalty, nobility and prestige and Mauve also but with Mauve, you know this in secret but you don’t flaunt it.
Per Inna Segal, Mauve is
a pale lavender-lilac colour, can assist you to connect with your intuition, awaken your inspiration and expand your spiritual awareness. Mauve can help you to let go of heavy, dense energies and to lighten up.
Mauve creates a sense of peace and tranquillity. It helps with eye and ear problems. It can improve your memory and ability to concentrate. It is a colour of softness, gentleness and allowance.
If you’ve read what Color Communication is all about and how I determine the 3 colors for you to choose from, you know that since all 3 are revealed to me, all 3 pertain to me. From time to time I’ll share serendipity as to how one, two or all three colors applied to my situation at the time. For instance, lately I’ve had some trouble with my left ear feeling “plugged” and here comes the color Mauve!
So what can you do today with this awesome and somewhat “unknown” color? Being that nothing happens by accident and you chose this color, you may have an ear “problem” or a hearing problem. I don’t use the word “problem” because there are no such things and I prefer to use the words situation, challenge, obstacles, and opportunities for reasons I may explain some other time. For now, ask yourself what is your situation?
Do you have a “physical” ear situation in which you cannot hear well? Surround yourself with lilacs, pictures of lilacs, place the Mauve color by the infected ear and bless it. Wear something Mauve today as an accent but be sure to do all of this with the intent of healing your ear and hearing. The intent is so important. Before you put on this Mauve article state out loud that you are wearing this because you are “healed, healthy and whole” (an affirmation I developed and “assign” to my clients with situations as this. During your day when you see Mauve on others, on your surroundings or even looking at yourself, state (out loud when you can), “My ear is healed, healthy; whole”.
Now if your ears are physically fine it may be that you have a “hearing” situation; you either don’t listen or actively listen. When people are speaking to you, do you only wait to immediately say what you want to say? Sometimes we don’t “hear” because we are internally formulating our next words so we don’t hear the speaker. Today, when you talk with people, paraphrase and repeat back what people said; “so what I think you are saying is”; or simply repeat word for word what they said (but don’t do this with every sentence) “There’s a special today on apples?” “You have a cold”? Sometimes you may simply repeat it in your mind. “You have a cold; what can I do to help?” This gives pause in the communication so you are not responding too quickly. Learning to actively listen and become a great conversationalist is a great skill to have and worth checking into.
So today, heal yourself if you have an ear situation and “heal” your talk and listening if that is your situation. Always make note of lessons learned using your Color Journal and in this case, use a pencil or pen in the color closest to “Mauve”.
