Stand up, on this Thanksgiving Day, stand upon your feet.
Believe in man. Soberly and with clear eyes, believe in your own time and
place. There is not, and there never has been a better time, or a better place
to live in.
- Phillips Brooks
What do you expect this
Thanksgiving? Expect good, and it will be good. Intend that things will go well
as the day starts and continues.
Get up early on this Thanksgiving Day and list
10 things, people and blessings that you are thankful for and act all day as if
you really are thankful for them. Then at the day’s end, when the rush of the
day is over and there’s nothing left but the making of turkey leftovers for the
next several days, review your list and grade yourself as to how thankful you
were.
If the day is truly meant to be a day of thanks, then put aside your own
needs and truly think of the needs of others. Forgive those for the little
things that have happened, will probably happen again, and will probably always
happen. Just be concerned with yourself and your gift in today’s play. Just
love people today and love the time you’ll have with them. This day is really a
“gift”; unwrap it carefully and give it allowing the recipient to
enjoy it as he or she wants. Treat the people you are with as if this may be
the last day you’ll see them.
Are you thankful; really? If you are really
thankful then let everything on this day be a gift of thanks to those you are
with; make it about them and not you. When the day is over it will be like any other
day, except that you were with family and friends, and that is good.
