The “Color” Watermelon

Tom T. Hall was a great songwriter (known as the “Story Teller”) and wrote a song called “Watermelon Wine”. It's worth a listen. The video is of an “older” Tom T but I want you to hear his discussion surrounding his song and performance. It too is much like what “surrounds” my Color Communication.

Now let's look at the color “Watermelon”.

The gemstone “Watermelon Tourmaline” is one of the most beautiful and probably my most favorite gemstone. If you've never seen one before; it is certainly a sight to behold! The fruit, Watermelon may conjure up good times as a kid, especially in the summertimes; picnics and more. When you think of the "color" watermelon, you probably think of a pastel pink. If you want to experience the attributes which we'll talk about here, I suggest that you buy watermelons (if in season) and pink lemonade. Then come back and read this.

Sadly, watermelon has been stereotyped with blacks and slavery making it hard to do positive research about the fruit. Here is a site which offers both positive and negative meanings.

Watermelon is a symbol of the intellect, work and welfare. However, sometimes a watermelon can be interpreted in a negative way.

If you dream of a watermelon, which you buy in a market, this dream foretells you failures in love.

If you dream of cut watermelon, you will have new prospects in career and will be promoted.

If you dream that you cut watermelon personally, be ready for troubles, quarrels and conflicts with your management.

You can certainly find examples of the color Watermelon for clothes and accessories, but symbolism and meaning seems harder to find. In this case as with others presented in Inna's “Secret Language of Color”, I'm going to concede to her definition of releasing your inner Child. She says, Watermelon is a color of softness, gentleness and compassion that encoursae affection, self-accpetantce, and kindness.

Her exercise is to close your eyes and visualize yourself as a small child and ask yourself what fun thing would you like to do today? It certainly seems that as adults we do become “all work and no play” or at least little play. On the other hand some people are “all play” and little work but without balance, they are not really “mature”. If you chose this color then you are meant to evaluate your situation and add more “play” into your life. Plan breaks in your projects so you can return with fresh eyes and new perspectives. Plan and take a vacation. Life is meant to be fun. Bob Proctor and others tell us that “If it ain't fun that we shouldn't do it”.

Have some fun today!
