Achieve Your Desires in 2011; Free Goal Setting Work Sheet

Tuesday, December 28th, 2010
As I’m writing this about Secret Rule number 6: “Do not try to force or hurry your mental picture into fulfillment. Accept that great things may require great time” it is one week before the new year begins. This for me is an annual routine of reflecting on the previous year, rejoicing in accomplishments, adjusting areas which need more work so they come about; and now- setting goals for the upcoming 12 months. Some of your desires that you wish to attain happen happen tomorrow, some will happen in one month, some in six or twelve months, and some of the larger dreams, desires, and goals will take more time. Don’t “rush” these bigger desires. It may make you frustrated and give up.
Where you are today, is because of the actions you took about 5 years ago. For some things, you may need to wait about 5 years to see results.
Simply “know” that when they exist “on the inside” of you, as an idea, and you continually think about it, with action, it will happen “on the outside”. It will happen! However, we must do everything we can on our part to have the idea, create a plan, and then act, to make it reality. When we’ve done everything we are supposed to do, then we wait for it to come about. Remember, anyone who ever invented anything, or constructed anything, first had the idea in the mind, created the plan, and acted on it for it to come about.
What will you be in 12 months; simply older? Where will you be in 12 months? In the same place you are now, spiritually, emotionally, physically, financially, and socially? We can be almost certain that the sun will come up and go down everyday these next 365 days and that life will “happen”. But what are you doing to “happen” to life?
Life is what happens while you are busy making other plans. John Lennon
Once you say you're going to settle for second, that's what happens to you in life. John F. Kennedy
What we think determines what happens to us, so if we want to change our lives, we need to stretch our minds. Wayne Dyer
So I am helping you to “stretch” your mind, and think first, plan, and then act on your desires with these 10 Secret Rules for Attainment. It’s easier for people to commit to a 90 day action plan when trying to accomplish goals. Visit: http://www.terscott.com/goalworksheet  to print out a 12 month worksheet in which you can write in your goals in each of the six areas: spiritually, emotionally, intellectually (education), physically (recreation), financially, and socially for the next 12 months. Lay out the entire 12 months and then concentrate on your goals in 90 day, quarterly increments. Add to the sheets when ideas come to you and reflect on successes as they come about and use them to spur you to more successes!
I wish you the very best. May you reach all of your goals that you wish for in 2011.
Make it a great day, and have a super New Year!

Choose a Life that Matters...

Tuesday, December 14, 2010
Good day all!
I want to remind you to be sure to print off the gift certificates at: www.terscott.com/10rulescertificate and use as stocking stuffers this year for friends and relatives. In this season of giving and sharing, what is more fitting than improving one’s mind and prosperity?
Before we discuss the 6th rule of the 10 Secret Rules for Attainment, allow me to share I a short article came across recently. It’s titled: “What Will Matter” by Michael Josephson. You may find it interesting and beneficial in your quest for attainment.
Ready or not, some day it will all come to an end. There will be no more sunrises, no minutes, hours, or days. All the things you collected, whether treasured or forgotten will pass to some one else. Your wealth, fame and temporal power will shrivel to irrelevance. It will not matter what you owned or what you were owed. Your grudges, resentments, frustration and jealousies will finally disappear.
So too, your hopes, ambitions, plans and to-do list will expire. The wins and losses that once seemed so important will fade away. It won’t matter where you came from or what side of the tracks you lived on at the end. It won’t mater whether you were beautiful or brilliant. Every your gender and skin color will be irrelevant.
So what will matter?
How will the value of your days be measured? What will matter is not what you bought, but what you built, not what you got but what you gave.
What will matter is not your success but your significance. What will matter is not what you learned but what you taught.
What will matter is every act of integrity, compassion, or sacrifice that enriched, empowered or encouraged others to emulate your example. What will matter is not your competence but your character. What will matter is not how many people you knew, but how many will feel a lasting loss when you’re gone.
What will matter is not your memories but the memories that live in those who loved you. What will matter is how long you will be remembered, by whom, and for what.
Living a life that matters doesn’t happen by accident. It’s not a matter of circumstance but of choice.
Choose to live a life that matters!
OK, now we return to our regularly scheduled Rule for Attainment. Do not try to force or hurry your mental picture into fulfillment. Accept that great things may require great time.
Hopefully you have smaller, short term goals with your larger goals. We may take for granted the every day tasks, which are really mini-goals. Use the successes of your smaller goals as “proof” that the larger goals can also become reality. For instance, a mini goal is getting your groceries. When you go grocery shopping this week, have an attitude of gratitude for the items you are able to purchase. Then know also that if you are buying hamburger this week, know that you will also be able to purchase steak in the future. Don’t say “I can’t afford steak”; say “I can afford hamburger”. Be grateful for the hamburger and later you’ll be grateful for the steak. Don’t state: “I can’t afford steak now, but I will in the future” because your mind hears the: “I can’t afford…” part. If you own a small used car today, you can own a new Lincoln, Cadillac, or Ferrari in the future. If you now live in a small house, this is “proof” that you can also live in a larger house, and so on. Also, if you’ve been successful at something, use this as “proof” that you can be successful in other things. Everything in life is connected in some way; and builds upon itself.
Understand that a larger house takes more time to build than a smaller house. This may seem obvious but use this as a reminder then that a larger dream or goal typically takes longer to achieve; but it is achievable! Just map out your course, set out and act on your wishes, and take note of the “road signs” along the way so you know if you are on or off course.
We’ll speak more about persevering on this journey next time with Rule 7.
Make it a great day! Ter
